The many efforts to save the NC Museum of Forestry have produced results.  These include:

•  Governor Perdue visiting Whiteville on March 30th, 2011 where she held a Town Hall meeting.  The Fayetteville Observer quoted her as saying, “you’ve got my word that I will help you solve this problem.”  (see Fayetteville Observer, March 31st, 2011 Page 5B titled ‘Perdue Pledges to fund Museum’
•  Senator Rabon has been spearheading the effort in the NC Senate.   The News Reporter on April 7th ran a short ‘late news’ blurb Page 14-A  ‘NC Museum of Forestry will be Saved’  where Senator Rabon said he was “99 percent sure the museum would not be closed.”
•  The House Subcommittee for Natural and Economic Resources released their budget recommendations on April 12th.  They recommended that the NC Museum  Forestry not to be cut from the budget.
•  Hundreds of letters (including almost a 1,000 from school children), phone calls, emails, 2,479 Face book hits, snail mail letters, personal appearances and media support produced these positive results.   Thank you all for your time, energy and passion for the NC Museum of Forestry.

However, the State budget is not final.  So please stay ready for action if the need arises.  In the mean time, thank all the Legislators, Governor and anyone who has helped for their continuing support.

The Museum is fortunate and blessed to have such dedicated friends.  Thank you all again and I hope we will soon celebrate the successful effort to save the NC Museum of Forestry.
